Math Nexus – a Weekly Treasure Trove of Resources for the Math Classroom

by Bill Lombard on 1 December, 2008

The Math Nexus website is loaded with neat stuff for math teachers looking to supplement their students’ classroom experiences. The site publishes, on a weekly basis, new Problems, Quotes, Statistics, Humor, Websites, Math Person, Resource, and Golden Oldie. If you want an email reminder about new content, there is a weekly update list for this site; just send your email address to Jerry.Johnson@wwu.edu

Here’s this week’s quote:

“Learning is not so much an additive process, with new learning simply piling up on top of existing knowledge, as it is an active, dynamic process in which the connections are constantly changing and the structure reformatted.”

K. Patricia Cross
Professor of Higher Education
University of California, Berkeley

The site is a publication of the Whatcom and Skagit Mathematics Partnerships in the state of Washington. From the website: “This partnership is dedicated to jointly increasing mathematics achievement levels for all students (K-14) and narrowing differences between diverse student populations.”
