The Game of Hex – an Online Resource

Hex - online game

Here’s a nice online version of the popular strategy game Hex. It’s one of the this collection of 100 JavaScript games to play online. The MathsClass blog mentions it in an April 2009 blog entry.

It’s possible to demonstrate how to play Hex to a class if you have an LCD projector, and you can play against the computer or against another human opponent. With Interactive WhiteBoards gaining some prominence in the classroom, it’s nice to find good applications for them as well. One of the nice things about Hex is that there is never going to be a tie – someone always wins. The proof of this claim is another nice logical/mathematical exercise.

Here’s the link to this neat Game of Online Hex.

If you’re looking to play Hex on paper, check out my Friday Afternoon Lifesaver article: The Game of Hex.
