If you want a major upgrade in your online life, this could be it. The orange icon on mrlsmath.com lets you easily subscribe to blog entries as they are published. You can set up a “web feed” that allows you to keep up with new information from this website and others you visit.
This magic is accomplished by an information clearinghouse via RSS, which is Really Simple Syndication. The RSS content can be read by an RSS reader, such as Google Reader, which I use. Since I also have gmail, which is the Google email service, it’s well integrated and extremely easy to use. When I run across news that may be of interest to friends, it’s a simple matter to email it to them.
If you are used to manually clicking from one site to the next to find out new information, RSS makes this tiresome task a thing of the past – just check in with your feed reader (there are many to choose from) and it’s all right there, waiting for you, anytime you wish to read it. How cool!
My feed address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/MrLsMath – feed addresses are automatically added to your RSS account by the feed reader you use.
To explore RSS further, here is the Google Reader website – http://www.google.com/reader
Enjoy surfing with less effort!
- Mr. L
